The Virginia Beach City Public School (VBCPS) Superintendent and School Board are on Team ShutDown and are trying to ignore the majority of Virginia Beach parents and school employees who want an in-person school in the Fall. They want to keep the school’s shutdown and to cram more useless virtual learning down Virginia Beach kids’ throats without your consent. The Superintendent thinks himself so above the parents of Virginia Beach that he has announced the all-virtual school plan for the Fall BEFORE the VBCPS School Board has voted! Who’s running this show?
While VBCPS won’t receive the full results of their family and VBCPS teacher surveys until Tuesday, the partial results tell you everything you need to know: Reported by Victoria Manning- At Large
- Out of 34,802 family respondents, 62% want 5-day a week in-person school to resume. That’s over 21,000 of VBCPS’s families!!
- Out of 5,377 teachers that respondents, 84% of teachers are willing to teach in-person 5-days a week.
Families deserve a choice!! There are enough teachers willing to teach all kids that want to attend a 5-day-a-week in-person school, and there are enough teachers to handle the kids of the families that prefer virtual learning.
We Need Your Help!
The VBCPS School Board meets this Tuesday, July 28th, to vote on the Fall plan for the school. You MUST remind them they and the Superintendent work for YOU and that you will not be ignored! We need you to let them know by these two action steps:
- Call and email your at-large and district VBCPS School Board members and let them know it’s not ok to ignore the majority of families and teachers! VBCPS School Board answers to YOU, not the Superintendent or the Teachers Union.
- The Teachers Union will rally at the School Board meeting on Tuesday, we need Virginia Beach citizens to rally together to remind VBCPS School Board that you won’t be ignored!
This is our last chance to stop the Superintendent and the Teachers Union from making the VBCPS School Board their rubber stamp!
